Some dryness does not answer to body lotion. Elbows that stay ashy, heels that crack in the dry season, shins that look dull an hour after you have moisturised. An oil works on those because it seals moisture in instead of evaporating off.

Derma V10 Rescue Oil is a light blend of plant oils with vitamin E. It absorbs rather than sitting on the surface, so you are not waiting around or marking your clothes before you can get dressed.

Where people use it

• Dry patches. Elbows, knees, heels, shins — the places that go rough first.
• Scars and stretch marks. Used regularly it helps soften how they look. It will not erase them, and anyone who tells you an oil does is selling you something.
• After a shower. On damp skin, which is when an oil holds the most moisture in.
• Nails and cuticles. A drop rubbed in at the nail bed.
• As a massage oil, or a capful in a warm bath.

How to use it

Warm a few drops between your palms and work them in, ideally on skin still damp from a shower. Daily is what makes the difference on scars and stretch marks — once in a while will not.

Worth knowing

For outside use only. Keep it away from your eyes. If your skin is broken or irritated, wait until it has settled. If you have reacted to an oil or a fragrance before, try a little on your inner arm first and leave it a day.
