That single difference changes how you use it. The standard Band 10 borrows your phone's GPS, so a mapped run means carrying your phone. The Pro picks up five satellite systems on its own, GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo and QZSS, and records the route by itself. You leave the house with a watch and nothing else.

The screen is bigger and sharper than the standard band, 1.74 inches at 480 x 336, and it peaks at 2000 nits. In Kampala sun at midday that is the difference between reading your pace and shading the screen with your hand. The aluminium body is 9.7 mm thick and 21.6 g, so it is still a band rather than a slab.

For swimming, 5ATM covers pool work, and the optical sensor keeps reading your pulse underwater rather than dropping out the moment your wrist goes under. Xiaomi's Sleep 2.0 algorithm handles the overnight tracking, and the company rates it as roughly 11% better at catching when you actually fall asleep and wake, and 14% better on deep sleep, than the previous version.

One practical feature worth knowing about if you carry two handsets: it connects to both at once and takes calls and notifications from either, and it does not mind if one is Xiaomi and the other an iPhone.
