The screen is the reason to pick this generation. Xiaomi thinned the bezels to 2mm and pushed peak brightness to 1500 nits, so notifications and workout stats stay legible outdoors at midday rather than washing out. At 60Hz it scrolls smoothly, and the pill-shaped AMOLED sits inside a sandblasted aluminium frame that weighs under 16 grams without the strap. You stop noticing it on your wrist within a day.

For training there are more than 150 sports modes, including a swimming mode and guided running courses, backed by a nine-axis motion sensor and an optical sensor that reads heart rate and blood oxygen. Sleep and stress tracking run in the background without you having to start anything, and there is a breathing exercise and a cycle-tracking tool for women's health. Pebble mode lets you clip the band to your shoe for more accurate running form data. The strap is quick-release, so swapping to a different band takes seconds.

Battery is the quiet advantage. Xiaomi rates it at up to 21 days in typical use from the 233mAh cell, and the magnetic puck brings it back to full in roughly an hour, so charging is something you do while you shower rather than something you plan around.
