Police Silver Allure, a 100 ml Eau de Toilette for men, on our shelf in Kampala rather than ordered in.

Police is an Italian lifestyle brand that has been making fragrance since the nineties, so unlike most of what we stock at this price it is a name a lot of customers will already recognise. The bottle is a weighted pale blue flacon with the winged crest embossed into the glass and a brushed silver cap.

It is an Eau de Toilette, which carries roughly 5 to 9 per cent fragrance oil. That makes it lighter and fresher than the Eau de Parfums we stock alongside it, and in practice a better fit for daytime and for heat: an EDT sits closer and cooler where a heavy EDP can turn thick by midday. The trade is longevity, so expect to top it up in the afternoon if you want it to carry into the evening.

At 100 ml this is a third more liquid than the 75 ml bottles beside it, which is worth weighing up when you compare the prices.
